September 2014 Newsletter

September saw Savage Wilderness host the first teachers social weekend at our camp on the Tana River near Sagana. It gave new and old teachers from various schools across Kenya and even Tanzania a chance to get to know each other and see the fantastic facilities on offer at Savage Camp. The weekend was met with great enthusiasm by the 120 teachers we hosted and due to the positive feedback we received it will become an annual event at the start of each new school year.

Schools season has started and we've already had a few school groups enjoying the activities at our camp which include: white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and archery amongst others. We have also had one school group summit Mount Kenya and look forward to welcoming more groups onto Mount Kenya early in the new year.

We're eagerly anticipating the rains (which are late this year) to give us some high water levels but we still have great medium water levels on the Tana River which makes for fantastic white water rafting. For a fun weekend away or just a day trip followed by a BBQ lunch, drop us an e mail or click on the link below to make an enquiry.

Virgin Atlantic Cycle South Africa 2014
We had a fantastic time in South Africa at the beginning of June as back up crew for the Virgin Atlantic Cycle South Africa 2014 trip. Detour Trails guided the 49 Virgin Atlantic cyclists safely from start to finish and Bush Whisper made sure they had a hot shower, tents and a good meal to keep them going!

The group got to cycle through some of the most picturesque parts of rural Limpopo riding the bicycles that they donated at the end of the trip to Pride and Purpose (Ulusaba's charity just outside of Sabi Sands Reserve, Kruger Park). To add to the excitement permission was granted, for the first time in history, for us to cycle through part of the Sabi Sands Reserve in order to deliver the bicycles.

It was the first of what will hopefully be many Virgin Atlantic cycle trips to South Africa. Here are a few of the photos from the trip.

Savage Summer Camp 2014
The Grand Canyon

Summer Camp

14th - 18th July 2014

We are organising a fantastic summer camp this holiday for kids aged 8 - 14 years old. It's a great way to get the kids outdoors in a fun and educational environment. As always the kids will be supervised by our professional, experienced and well trained guides.

The kids will be spending half their time in Naivaisha (camping at the beautiful Sanctuary Farm) and the other half at Savage Camp near Sagana. Activities will include mountain biking, rock climbing, nature walks, kids yoga, climbing Mount Longonot and white water rafting.

Please note we do have a minimum and maximum number of kids needed to run the summer camp. If you are interested please make contact with us sooner rather than later.

For a full itinerary click on the link below and we will e mail you all the details!
